Summary

If you have Samsara Sensors, we will go through how to set them up in the Configuration page in this article.

Sensors in the Configuration Page

To navigate to the Configuration Page, go to Settings (bottom left gear icon) → Sensors on the left.

Activate and Find Sensors

Activate New Gateways

Go to top right → Activate Devices. Learn how to activate here: Activate Device(s) in the Cloud

  • View list of all Sensors:

      • Online indicator (green circle = online), Sensor serial, Sensor type (e.g. HM11, EM21, EM22, PM20), Sensor name

      • Signal (what IG it’s connected to or last online time), Paired Asset (gateway you want sensor to pin to), Position (specify where it is on your asset, if helpful - Front, Middle, Back, None)

  • Download a CSV of the sensor list

  • Upload a CSV if you want to bulk edit the information of activated sensors.

    • This is what the template looks like that you will download, fill out, and Upload

  • Find Sensors (s) of interest- use the Search Bar and add Filter for Tag

Configure Sensor Settings

Edit Sensors

Click the three dots to right of Sensor and click Edit

  • Change Sensor name, Position, Product type (ex: EKM → PM20), Add Tag (for user access levels)

Pin Sensors

Up to 12 HMs or EMs can be assigned to 1 Gateway. If you have 12 or less sensors around. gateway, you don’t need to pin the Gateway to the Sensors since they will automatically connect.

However, if you have more than 12 HMs around 1 Gateway, you should assign (aka “pin”) a Gateway to each sensor to ensure it is connected to the right Gateway.

To review your Unassigned sensors, go to Unpaired tab and managed the sensors there:

Remove Sensors

If you no longer want sensors in your Cloud and you have Full Admin rights, remove them here:

Warning: Removing sensors also clears all the device’s history that you won’t be able to access again.

Exchange Sensor
