IG15 Antenna Install Guides
Summary
In this article, learn how to install all the antennas for your IG15.
IG15 Antenna Options: The IG15 requires an external antenna for connectivity. Samsara offers two primary configurations, listed below (both sold separately). For each, be sure to confirm a pathway for cabling and allow enough space for the antennas to be mounted.
LTE and GPS Antennas - LTE and GPS Antennas (sold separately)
Array Antenna - with LTE cellular and passive GPS (sold separately)

IG15 LTE and GPS Antenna Install Guide
This configuration uses two separate antennas that attach to each SMA connector on the IG15. The LTE antenna is outdoor adhesive-backed and the GPS antenna is magnetically mounted.
IG15 LTE Antenna
These antennas are slightly thinner in profile and great for use with semi-permanent / permanent installations where general cell service is good. The benefits to using this antenna type is speed of install.
Dimensions: 117 L x 35 W x 13.2 D mm (4.61 x 1.38 x .52 in)
Cable Length: 1.5 M (59 in)
Install instructions
Chose an area large enough for the antenna to be mounted
Clean the area of any debris and use the included alcohol wipe to prep the surface
Simply remove the tape covering and firmly press the antenna to the surface for which you are mounting.
Route the cable to the IG15 and screw into the SMA connector labeled “LTE”
IG15 GPS Antenna
This antenna is intended to provide the IG15 location data.
Dimensions: 40 L x 35 W x 13.5 D mm (1.57 x 1.38 x .53 in)
Cable Length: 1.5 M (59 in)

Install instructions
Choose an area large enough for the antenna to be mounted
This antenna is magnetically mounted, simply attach to ferrous surface.
Route the cable to the IG15 and screw into the SMA connector labeled “GPS”
IG15 Array Antenna Install Guide
Samsara offers an array antenna that can be installed outside of an enclosure for gain more connectivity. It is omnidirectional and provides a higher gain than the standard antennas. This configuration uses a single, high-powered array antenna that includes both LTE and GPS and attaches to both SMA connectors on the IG15. The antenna is outdoor adhesive-backed.
Dimensions: 240 L x 65.6 W x 38.7 D mm (9.45 x 2.58 x 1.52 in)
Cable Length: 1.5 M (59 in)
Install Steps
Wear proper eye protection.
The antenna cables are 5 ft in length. Ensure that the hole location described in the next few steps permit ample length to mount the antenna. In general, the best practice is to mount directly above IG15. See the following photos for general mounting locations on existing equipment.
Using a step drill bit, drill out the appropriate size hole for the array antenna’s threads to pass through (~16mm) the enclosure. This will allow the antenna cables to pass through and be routed back to the IG15.
Mount the antenna outside the enclosure - The antenna can be mounted with the included sheet metal screw or with the included adhesive strip.
Route the provided cable to the IG15. Screw the GPS and LTE cables into the labeled connections of the IG15. Secure the antenna through the drilled point and fasten with provided screws and washers.
Caution: Be sure to connect the correct antenna lead to the correct corresponding system controller SMA connector.
