Summary

Please complete the below five steps prior to install to ensure a seamless onboarding experience.

  • LOCATE & UNPACK THE SAMSARA SITE GATEWAY

Visit the unboxing and installing Site Gateway Article for assistance.

  • FIND A SUITABLE LOCATION FOR SITE GATEWAY IN A SERVER ROOM/RACK

Place the Site Gateway near an existing network switch. The Site Gateway does not need to be rack mounted.

  • CONNECT SITE GATEWAY TO THE NETWORK & POWER ON

Outbound traffic over port 443 (TLS) is required for the Site Gateway. Before powering on, install the Cellular Antennas (included in the Site Gateway Box). For more information, review the Site Gateway installation guide.

  • ACTIVATE SITE GATEWAY VIA SAMSARA CLOUD PORTAL

Locate serial number located on the Site Gateway box, visit http://samsara.com/activate , and follow the instructions.

  • ALLOW THE SITE GATEWAY 10-30 MINUTES TO UPGRADE FIRMWARE

The Site Gateway needs to update to the most recent firmware when initially powered on. It will not be able to discover cameras until this is complete. Upgrade time can vary based on download speed, ideally the gateway is powered on and connected the day before cameras are to be discovered.

  • PLEASE HAVE ALL USERNAME/PASSWORDS READY FOR THIRD-PARTY CAMERAS

If you are using existing, third-party cameras, please have usernames and passwords ready when adding the cameras to the dashboard. Usernames and passwords are required for authentication and to produce streams in the dashboard. Obtaining this information ahead of the install will help streamline onboarding.
