Third Party Device Troubleshooting - Serial Devices

Problem Description

Possible Solutions

No data is streaming

Check that Industrial Gateway is online by going to Gateways page and seeing if the green circle is there on the left of that Gateway.

Check serial protocol is correct (RS232 vs RS485) where the device is configured.

Check protocol settings match connected device (baud rate, data and stop bits, parity)

Check or swap RX and TX or A and B lines

Ensure common ground connection between IG and connected device

For RS-485 connections, check for terminating resistors at each end of bus, and if not present add a 120 ohm resistor at each end.

Incorrect data

Check register or TLPs based on manufacturer documentation

Third Party Device Troubleshooting - Ethernet Devices

No data is streaming

Check that Industrial Gateway is online by going to Gateways page and seeing if the green circle is there on the left of that Gateway.

Check IG has an appropriate IP address to communicate with connected device, and that cable is connected and ethernet port lights are on

Check 3rd Party Device has the correct IP address and port number configured. Use Ping tool to check connectivity from IG to 3rd party device
