Summary

The default Samsara polling rate is 1 minute. When setting up a 3rd Party Device, the polling rate for each register can be configured to different intervals.

Define the Polling Rate

When setting up a register for a 3rd Party Device or 3rd Party Device Template, the default polling rate is 1 minute. You can adjust the polling rate for each register to the following intervals:

  • 10 minutes

  • 5 minutes

  • 1 minute

  • 10 seconds (only for non-CAN devices)

  • 1 second (only for non-CAN devices)

Your Samsara Cloud will load faster if your data is polled at lower frequencies.

3rd Party Register Modal:

For each 3rd Party Device Register, there is a field to select the polling frequency via dropdown.

3rd Party Device Spreadsheet:

On the 3rd Party Device Spreadsheet, there is a dropdown for each row.

Polling Rates and 3rd Party Device Templates

When adding a new Gateway to a 3rd Party Device Template, the polling frequency for that new Gateway will reflect the configuration in the 3rd Party Device Template.

If a change is made to the polling frequency in the 3rd Party Device Template, the polling frequency will change for all 3rd Party Device Templates (similar to other fields)
